Quicken Loans puts on the Race for Heroes 500 this last weekend in qualifying. Jeff Gordon usurped the natural order of things to take the last event. One place left to go for a possible automatic qualifier. Most of the pack seems to be conceding the race to one who has dominated in Phoenix like no other. While we see their logic, another driver earns our merit as the Free Pick for the Race for Heroes 500.
Harvick’s Stranglehold
One of Harvick’s rivals has strong words for the track in Phoenix. In no uncertain terms, he feels that Kevin Harvick is head and shoulders above everyone else when it comes to this course. The repave at this track has really hit Joe Gibbs Racing cars hard. Not only did they not respond poorly there but have yet to find a way to cope with the new environmental condition. At least the weather should be dry which has a more equalizing effect for the rest of the field outside of Kevin.
Head Games
Kyle Busch has the largest degree of error to qualify for the last stage of the Chase even if he does not win. However as in chess, when one plays for a draw is when it is the hardest to come by. Something about knowing there is margin for error plays with the head. Going in knowing that Harvick has won here four times straight also clouds judgement. Look for Busch to get all tied up and not to make it past this stage.
If one person can usurp the order here it is Brad Keselowski. He crushed Texas leading 93 percent of all the laps. His form is fine and he is desperate. Also he realizes something that most gloss over. In the late stages of the season, the Harvick car has not handled right. Too little time to get every little dent out of it. Our Free Pick for this one is Brad Keselowski to finish top three. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at APEX NASCAR Betting.
